Infant Stimulation
Infant Stimulation Programme
This programme is for children aged 0-3 years. Following a referral an assessment of the child with the parents is carried out by the Early Services Team.
The programme is then tailored made to meet the needs of the child,and the family. It is based primarily on the portage early education programme,and concentrates on six areas of development;-infant stimulation,self-help,motor,socialization,cognitive and language.
The Home Liaison Teacher co-ordinates the programme in consultation with the family and with the support of other clinicians. Visits to the home are usually on a weekly basis where the Home Liaison Teacher works with the child/parent in developing new skills.
