Family Support is an integral part of Community Services and it provides a service to 153 adults, children and their families. Our aim is to provide support to the families though our various services.

In essence, the scheme primarily offers “hands on” practical assistance to people with Intellectual Disabilities and their families.

The scheme offers a continuity of home support options providing relief for parents, and gives adults and children an opportunity to integrate and socialise. In order to facilitate as many families as possible, the programme is structured so that the diversity of family’s needs/ circumstances can be addressed within the constraints of our resources.

We give 1:1 support to a number of Adults and Children and their families after school, Pre School and after day services. We focus on individual needs of the child and adults. We provide after day services group activates for a group up to six people, six evenings for leisure activities.

Small group outings

Small groups of young adults get an opportunity to socialise together with their peers after work and on Saturdays. The activities include, cinema, shopping, snooker, football matches, eating out, etc., which helps to broaden their experiences through socialising with their friends.

Summer Camp Programme

We provide a Summer Camp for three weeks in August, 2 weeks for Children and 1 week for Adults. This camp facilities over 100 people (50 Children & 50 Adults). We focus on leisure activities such as Swimming, going to the cinema, playing snooker, going bowling, bouncing castles visits to the Zoo and the Farm in Kilcloon. The adults also took trips on the luas and had meals out.

Saturday Leisure Club

Alternate Saturdays – Children/Adults –

Throughout the year we provide a leisure club for adults and children. It is a club for parents to involve their children/adults in leisure activities with their friends. Each group within the club partake in swimming, snooker, bowling, eating out, indoor and out door games and home cinema with goodies!
